Both Classical and Western Dressage riders and auditors are welcome
If you’ve always wanted to do a freestyle, this event is for you! The Freestyle Symposium, sponsored by Grand Valley Dressage Society (GVDS) and The Dressage Foundation is the perfect opportunity to help you prepare.
Janet “Dolly” Hannon, our clinician, was the Chair of the USDF Freestyle Committee, now a working group of the USDF Judges Committee, of which she continues as an active member. She has assisted in spearheading consistent freestyle scoring guidelines, which will be shared during this symposium. She is a USDF 4th-level certified instructor, “S” dressage judge, “R Western Dressage judge and is on USDF Instructor Development faculty and the L faculty. This event will be auditor-friendly, addressing questions from all participants. Both riders and auditors will learn how to enhance and improve freestyle quality for a variety of levels and stages of freestyle development.

April 5: Lecture— Musical Freestyle: How Freestyles are Judged and How to Create a Winning Freestyle
Location: Ridgeline Community Center Spyglass Ridge 2694 Lookout Ln Grand Junction, CO. 9 AM-4 PM
April 6: Ride-a-Tests (Both Freestyle and Regular Tests)
Location: Mesa County Fairgrounds 2785 US-50, Grand Junction, CO. Begins at 9 AM.
Fees: (Audit Fees increase by $5 after April 1)

$25/day Auditor: Prepaid and GVDS Associate or GVDS/RMDS member

$30/day Auditor: Non-GVDS Associate or non-GVDS/RMDS member

$75/30 minute Ride-A-Test session: GVDS Associates or GVDS/RMDS Member.

$90/30- minute Ride-A-Test session: After March 15 or non-GVDS Associate or non-GVDS/RMDS Member.)

Ride-A-Test will have a 20-rider maximum. Freestyle ride-a-tests will be ridden before regular tests.

Bring your own shavings (2 bales minimum) or an additional $20 will be added to the cost of the stall. Use attached application to register.

Pre-registration for riders ends March 15;

April 1 for auditors. Auditor registration is available at the door but will be the higher cost noted on the application.
